I like to collect stories from different countries so this book really caught my eye with its stunningly creative and detailed quilt background for the old German folk tale (poem) about how Mother Earth and the sprite children ready for the seasons. So much to look at, loved the bumblebee getting brushed. I think I like this book even more than my daughter does. See also Pieces: A Year in Poems & Quilts

I was super-familiar with this book. When I was a little girl, in Germany, this was one of my first and favorite books. I know these pictures and have looked at them over and over again. Since i am a quilter, I have found myself wanting to make a child’s quilt based upon the pictures in the book. Imagine my surprise when I saw this book for sale in a quilting magazine. I quickly checked my amazon.com and found the book, for a better price!
