  1. I received this book as a baby in 1977. 32 years later, the rhymes and images are still with me. The illustrations are beautiful and occasionally disturbing – a perfect combination that helps make this book sublime. These days, too many books for children have simple, babyish computer-generated drawings or overtly commercial ties. If you are looking for a work of art that your children will never forget, find and give them a copy of this book!

  2. I love this version of Mother Goose rhymes for the pictures. It is full-color, and full of retro and fanciful drawings. It doesn’t have all the rhymes or complete versions of some of them, though.

  3. This is my absolte favorite childhood book. Mine is worn out, well loved, and real treasure. I lost myself in this book, for years, until now, and read it to my 3 year old son now. The illustrations are the best I have ever seen in a nursery rhyme book. Pure magic.

This is a book I grew up with and have so many fond memories of these rhymes and beautiful illustrations. I used to love to sit and read it cover to cover as well as have my mom read it to us. I look forward to reading this book to my daughter and reading it again myself.

I had this book growing up–we wore it out. Absolutely the best version of nursery rhymes you can find!
